Air Conditioning
Air conditioning is what it says it “conditions” the air. It not only cools it down, but also reduces the moisture content or humidity. All air conditioners work the same way whether they are installed in a building or in a car.
A number of people don’t realise that turning on the air conditioning actually reduces the number of miles per gallon of your car. There is energy used in removing the heat and moisture from the air in the car, and this consumes fuel because of the extra engine load.
We can have our professionals service your air conditioner within an hour.
Alignment
Make sure your vehicle is properly aligned. Unaligned wheels will fight the natural motion of the vehicle causing steering problems, driver fatigue, and premature and irregular tyre wear. If you notice uneven tread wear, this could be due to a misalignment and must be serviced by a professional.
We have one of the most advanced camera alignment systems and is the choice of many of the Islands top vehicle repairs centres.
Batteries
Car batteries are the most important electrical part of your car. Without a car battery your car won’t start. We carry out health checks to ensure your battery in good order and won’t let you down.
Here at Quayside we can carry out a charging system test and battery test with the latest SNAP-ON diagnostic equipment.
Brakes
To stop a car, the brakes have to get rid of kinetic energy. They do so by using the force of friction this converts that kinetic energy into heat. When you press your foot down on the brake pedal, a connected lever pushes a piston into the master cylinder, which is filled with hydraulic fluid.
All these systems are prone to wear and need to be regularly checked, our experts are fully trained to carry out safe repairs to your brakes.
We provide a full check of your brakes with the latest diagnostic equipment “brake safe”. BRAKE SAFE includes brake efficiency test which measures stopping time and stop distance.

It goes without saying that keeping your car healthy is important. When our experienced technicians have looked over your car, we’ll create an easy-to-follow report highlighting any problems that we’ve spotted.
We never put any pressure on our customers, so there’s no obligation to carry out any work with us. But if you would like us to sort anything out for you, we can do that, no problem.
Suspension
Vehicle suspension is responsible for the following; keeping tyres in contact with the road, maintain correct ride height, reduce the effect of shock forces, and maintain correct wheel alignment and controlling the vehicle direction of travel.
Worn suspension can cause a lot of problem, such as uneven and accelerated tyre wear, a change in vehicle handling, and premature wear to other connected vehicle components.
Quayside offer repairs to vehicle suspension as well have 4 wheel geometric Alignment.
Tyres
Your new tyres can be any make and tread pattern you choose, but the size must match those currently on the car.
The easiest way to find the tyre size you need is by using a ‘search by registration’ facility, but you will still have to double check the size before ordering – by reading the markings on the side of your current tyres.
For example: 215/60 R 16 91 V
In this example:
- 215 is the tyre’s width in millimetres
- 60 is the tyre’s profile
- R indicates the tyre’s construction type (in this case radial)
- 16 is the wheel diameter in inches
- 91 is the vehicle’s load index (the maximum load it can carry)
- V is the tyre’s maximum speed rating
